This is the 2nd week of a new feature I am going to do each and every Friday. I will feature a local hero that you, the reader, have submitted as the hero in your life. If you would like to submit a military hero in your life, there is detailed information at the end of this story on how you can do that.

Yesterday I wrote a post about what great things American Military Family does and that they were getting ready to unleash a new program called S.O.S.

It was at the Veterans Day Parade in Loveland 2 years ago that I first met Genie Mjedle with American Military Family. Through her I met Michelle Benavidez and also Debbie Quackenbush. Talk about some amazing human being and what they do goes above and beyond caring for our Military families.

Some of you know that every Monday I do a KIA Honor Post to pay respect to those who were KIA the previous week. I have done this for almost a year now making sure that I, and hopefully you, don't ever take them for granted. So I wanted to end the week on a positive note. This will be a weekly feature, every Friday, to honor those who made it home.

As many of you know, or at least I hope you have noticed, the weekly KIA Honor Post I have been doing every single Monday now for almost a year now. If we are taking time to honor those who were KIA then we should recognize those who did make it home, especially here in our own Northern Colorado backyard, and highlight what they did for our country.

I know I say it all the time but let's please not forget the sacrifice these brave individuals have given to our great country. Like Army Pfc. Markie T. Sims. Most of you know I am a huge supporter of our Military and all their might. I don't hold one branch as being any better than the other or any war more important than another. Well, I take that back. When it comes to wars, I have the most respect for those who did their time in the Nam.
