CB_200x200
Born in Alamagordo, NM - 1963 and haven’t been the same since, but, then neither is anyone who has ever dared get close to me. I reside in Greeley and a single Dad of three awesome kids: My tribe consists of my daughter Taylor Anne -16, and two sons Mason William -14 and Cade Thomas -11. My children are the most important thing in my life and I just can’t get enough of them! I have been with Townsquare Media, Inc. since 1998 starting with the Morning Show on TRI-102.5 for several years before taking on the afternoon show here at K99 which you can hear live or online between 3P and 7P weekdays.   I started in radio at KBZZ in La Junta CO at the tender age of 15 and have basically been doing it ever since. I have worked in Texas, Kentucky, Kansas, Indiana, Arizona, Montana and Alaska. Yes, I was in Alaska for about 6 years living in Juneau right out of High School and eventually moved to Fairbanks to attend the University of Alaska and working full-time radio at the same time and spending my summers living in Wasilla and working radio in Anchorage: “L.A. on Ice.” As far as hobbies go, I enjoy being on 2-wheels everyday of the year. Anytime is a good time to ride!  {I just custom painted my FLHTCUI Ultra Classic and have some pics uploaded.}  I enjoy long road trips and camping off my bike, live music, long weekends with an open road and full tank of gas, friends, family and cool chilly cocktails on warm summer evenings! I love a good booming thunderstorm, lightning but hate slow drivers in the left lane, drivers who can't keep up with the speed limit, spinach and snow! If I haven’t answered your question or you just want to know more about me, please drop me a line anytime: charley@k99.com

The Jokers Wild Realities Ride is the ride of the year by far and not only does it draw the most motorcycles for this type of event but also raises a truckload of money for it's flagship Realities for Children which is also one of the best local charities around.

Memphis Police Officer Gets Into Slugfest

I have watched my fair share of "Cops" but I have never seen a police officer actually stand toe to toe with a perp. Normally they tackle, taser or mace the bad guy to get the upper hand.  Not this cat from Memphis!  Pretty sure this officer has done some boxing in a former life!

Charley Invites You On His 5th {and final} Iron Butt Ride

It's time to release your inner beast and nail down that first Iron Butt ride.  I have done 4 over the last couple years and have heard many say they would love to try an Iron Butt ride just so they can say they have done one and earned the title of an "Extreme Rider."  So, if your game, saddle up and let's get as many going as possible and maybe we will set a record in the process while doing the "In-State SS1000"

Charley Barnes Is No Fairweather Rider

I have now owned my current bike, an Electra Glide Ultra Class, also known in the riding world as a "Geezer Glide" for just over 4 years.  I sat down last week with my mileage records and what I saw on the calculator summed up what I already knew:  I ride A LOT!

Army Spc. Chase S. Marta Among Those Who Died For You Last Week – Week 19 [VIDEOS]

When a soldier pays the ultimate price and lays down his or her life protecting the freedom of our great country it goes largely unnoticed; until now. Every week I post names of those “who gave all” so I can pay my respects and remember why I/we have the freedom we do. This should be the most shared piece of the week, every week, so let's not forget to let others know so our soldiers don't die in vain but can look down knowing we all think they are the hero's that they are!  You have full authority to share this weekly post anywhere you like.

Charley’s Mexican Salad

Hey, the kids will love this (so will you), and its cheap to make.  Yup, that's my kind of dinner.  Being a single parent I am all about making new things to try that are on the cheap but fun.  It was a friend of mine, Jerry Clark, who sent this to me awhile a back and finally decided to try it over the weekend.

Tuff Hedeman and the CBR

The year was 1993 and Bill Clinton had just taken office when the average price of gas was a $1.05 a gallon, and who could forget “Achy Breaky Heart” being played every 15 minutes for what seemed a lifetime. It’s was also the same year 4 time PRCA Champion Tuff Hedeman put on his first bull riding event called the Tuff Hedeman Championship Challenge.
