On Sunday, August 31st two planes attempted to land at a Colorado airport mid-morning, according to reports.

Officials from the Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that a Cessna 172 and an Extra Flugzeugbau EA300 collided as they tried to approach the Fort Morgan Municipal Airport.

The aircrafts crashed and caught on fire.

Denver7 reported that the incident took place at approximately 10:40 AM.

The Morgan County Sheriff's Office confirmed that four people were involved in the incident, two individuals on each plane.

Reports state that one person on the Extra EA 300 died in the collision, while the other was hospitalized. Officials have not released details on the injuries sustained.

The two people on the Cessna walked away with minor injuries, according to reports.
