The term may sound funny, but odds are you have done bathroom camping before without realizing that it is what you were doing. Nearly everyone has done it at some time. We all need a quiet place from time to time, a moment to sit down and rest, or to just escape the world. One of the best places to do these things is in the bathroom, especially when at home. If you are spending time in the bathroom resting, relaxing, or on your phone, you are a bathroom camper. Many people in Colorado enjoy bathroom camping, but what do people do with their time when doing this?

A recent study by midwestplumbingco.com revealed that 61% of people admit to spending extra time in the bathroom, also known as bathroom camping. There are many things that people do during this extra time. According to the study, 48% of people are scrolling on their phones, 40% enjoy the peace away from everyone, 33% enjoy privacy, and there are 25% that need the time to get ready. Interestingly, 63% of men enjoy bathroom camping, compared to only 59% of women. The newer generation also prefers it more than the older generation, as 74% of Gen Z enjoy bathroom camping, compared to only 30% of boomers.
Using the Phone in the Restroom

Believe it or not, there was once a time when people went to the restroom without a cell phone. Many have forgotten what it is like to do so without their phones, and 84% admit to taking their phone with them when they go. Without it, imagine how much quicker people would be done in the restroom. What are people doing on it? 62% scroll social media in the restroom, 41% watch videos, hopefully on silent if in a public restroom, 37% text people, 31% read articles, and 26% play games. The days of reading a book, a magazine, or a newspaper appear to be long gone. Funny enough, 39% of people have admitted to hiding in the bathroom to avoid people, with 17% saying it was to hide from their spouse or partner, 17% to hide from family members, 15% from their children, and 14% from guests.
