Thanksgiving

As another Thanksgiving comes around, I find myself more thankful this year than ever. There are many reasons, I'm sure many are the same ones you're thankful for, but when you're as lucky as I am, you need to stop and count your blessings and I am especially thankful for one specific person this year.

Why did they start playing an NFL game on Thanksgiving? Did Thanksgiving have anything to do with the invention of the TV Dinner and what happened in 1942 at Westminster Abbey? Here is a list of some interesting facts about Thanksgiving that you may or may not know.

I have only ever once done a brine and that was on chicken, so I am excited to dip my turkey in a bath of brine.

I know, I was raised the same way... grandma would cook the bird for what seemed all day and constantly lathered it in some shining concoction like the bird was at the beach, but seriously, if you want a great bird keep the oven door closed.

I have mixed emotions on this topic. I have tried new sides while keeping our staple favorites, but don't touch my dressing/stuffing or my gravy!

For many families including mine, it is a tradition to get up early on Thanksgiving to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, or at least early enough to see Santa Clause at the end. I am thankful to be a part of such a great community. My Ashley and Colton went on to ready a place in Heaven for us 5 months ago this week and the Rocky football family continues to amaze us by remembering not just our Gentle Giant but our Princess as well.

For some this Thursday will be the first time to ever cook a turkey for others it will cause much stress not to dry it out and a few chosen will again make the best tasting-moist turkey ever. Are you one of the chosen?

I am a bit of a music fanatic in that I feel the need to make a fitting music mix for just about every special occasion (And even some not-so-special occasions). Now, Thanksgiving is a tough one because there isn't all that much music devoted to the holiday, and a lot of the songs that are, seem a little cheesy. I think we all have memories of our family gatherings and for some reason, Thanksgiving brings out the best or worst of everyone's family. My most vivid memory though was of the meal itself, or lack thereof.
