D Dennison

I have shared my loved for country music with K99 since 2003 and bring over 20 years of experience to the playground every day. I'm a quirky, rambling woman who brightens up the workday from 10-3. In 2010 I was the winner of the Colorado Broadcasters Association's DJ of the year for my time slot in 2010. Personally I have shared my life intimately with the K99 family through the 28 hours of Hope and I continue to overcome, grow and thrive. I am married and frequently refer to my husband as “My James.” Additional I am the mother of four children, Zachariah, Natasha, Ashley and Colton. Ashley & Colton tragically passed away in car accident in June of 2012; they have now made the journey to another world, but made a huge impact on our community through their charitable efforts, kind words and desire to make this world a better place for all. I miss them dearly, but the work that they did and the lives they influenced continues to impact our "everydays" and for that they will be remembered endlessly.

Initially you might laugh at the thought because you've wondered what your dog would be like on pot or maybe just because its time for your afternoon bag of Doritos and mega sized Mountain Dew. Either way Colorado vets are seeing the numbers of stoned pets increase.

Recipe Rescue: The Best and Easiest Hard Cooked Egg You’ve Ever Made [VIDEO]

Hard cooking eggs is an art. I don't care who you talk to, everyone has their own technique and swears by it. I like to fill a large pan with water, add my eggs, cover the pan and bring to a boil. Once I've done that, for me the perfection begins, but Food Network star Alton Brown has a completely different approach to the best and easiest hard cooked eggs you've ever made.

Easter Baskets — What’s in Yours Northern Colorado? [POLL]

A very long time ago I started a tradition that wasn't always easy on the wallet, not only did I put candy in the baskets but little trinkets, then bigger trinkets, then things like shoes, slippers and pajamas. Now as the kids have grown older, yes I still make them baskets, I typically just load them up with their favorite candies and nostalgic toys, like wooden peg games, kaleidoscopes and silly putty. So, Northern Colorado, what's in your Easter basket?

Recipe Rescue: What’s the Best Produce to Buy This Spring?

Living in the middle of the country, more or less, it's a produce free for all. In Colorado we can get just about anything we want for our recipes, but what is the best produce to buy in Colorado or anywhere in the spring. The freshest produce is the produce that is in season verses forced grown, which usually has very little flavor. Hopefully this guide brings flavor (included some recipes to help) back to your dinner table.

Flight Attendant Delivers Safety Talk in a Funny and Surprising Way [VIDEO]

I have flown a time or two and have been fortunate to have a pilot or two with a sense of humor, but I don't think that I have ever had a flight attendant with one. Typically I end up on their last flight of the day and they've dealt with enough for the day and it shows, but this flight attendant steals the show with her funny safety talk.

Easter — Myths and Cool Facts

Easter looks the same at our house as it does in many households, I would think. Family gathering, ham, eggs and games. We did however introduce a new tradition into our celebration about 5 or 6 years ago, we head to the Y.M.C.A camp in Estes Park. We rent a cabin without a television (yes, there are some with a t.v.) and we spend the weekend playing games, roasting marshmallows in the fireplace and just hanging out. A couple of years ago we did introduce the great puzzle challenge, the cabins come stocked with games and usually a few different puzzles to choose from, we attempt to complete one before the weekend is over and usually we accomplish this task. When you think of Easter there are a few myths and cool facts that I found interesting and thought that you might think so too.

The Black Hole Otherwise Known as Pinterest

I have been a follower of this site and have an account, whatever that really means, but I've never explored it. Basically I just signed up because everyone else seemed to be doing it. (no mom, I would not jump off a bridge if everyone else was doing that, I can so hear my mom saying that) I think now that I have a better idea what this Pinterest is, plain and simple, a black hole.

A Fort Collins Restaurant Offers Misleading Menu Item

When out shopping and enjoying a nice afternoon it creeps up on you, hunger. It must be all the searching for the perfect outfit, swimsuit, dress or whatever. Or the trying everything on, but sooner or later it hits with no warning and you must decide that moment where to go and get something to eat. Typically you chose a place nearby, so was the case for me. It's a restaurant I've been to before, one of the few still offering a salad bar and that is a big plus for me. But this Fort Collins restaurant, a chain, mislead me on one of their menu items.
