What do you say we hit the open road?

Summertime is typically a time when we jump in the car for a road trip. The weather is consistently pleasant making for ideal driving conditions. And a weekend getaway seems like the perfect idea week in and week out.

It's peak travel season.

However, not all state are created equal when it comes to road trips. There are lots of things to consider when it comes to driving a long distance. Things like traffic, gas prices, safety, and have a wide range of activities within driving distance. I mean, not all destinations are meant to be driven to. Sometimes you've got to get on a plane.

That being said, we live in on of the best states to pop around in.

Colorado was ranked number 10 on a list of the 10 Best States for a Road Trip, according to U.S. News. The list was compiled using road trip determining factors; cost, safety and attractions. Colorado performed well, compared to the rest of the nation, in cost (17) and attractions (18). Had we performed better in the category of safety, I'm sure we would have ranked even higher on this list.

Where are you road tripping this summer?
