Each state has plenty to offer, and with Colorado being near the middle of the country, many drive through it each year because they want to see the beautiful Rockies. Despite what most think, Colorado is not a great state to road trip through, and you may want to tell others to avoid going through the state.

Every state offers something unique, which is why many set a goal to road trip through every state in the country during their lifetime. Some will accomplish this, but many will not. WalletHub released a list ranking the best and worst states to road trip through and used categories like cost, safety, and activities to rank them. Using these criteria, it was determined that Minnesota is the best state to road trip in during the summer, followed by Utah, and Louisiana rounding out the top three. The worst state to road trip through during the summer is Rhode Island, with the second worst being Delaware, and Connecticut rounding out the bottom three. Where does Colorado rank on this list?

Most people think Colorado is a great place to road trip to and through during the summer. The mountains are beautiful, the weather is cooler than in other places, and there is plenty to see and do. Contrary to what many think, the list says that Colorado is the 24th best state for a summer road trip, putting it right around the middle of the list. Colorado is 32nd in cost, 45th in safety, and 9th in activities. Where Colorado fails and is one of the reasons to not road trip in the Centennial State is that the state has the 2nd highest average cost for vehicle repairs. If your vehicle breaks down, it will cost you a pretty penny. Another reason not to road trip through Colorado is that when road tripping, many things are left in the car, and car theft can become a concern. Colorado has the 2nd highest car thefts per capita in the country.

While these may seem like small concerns to some, knowing car repairs will cost more and that your car might not be safe are things to consider when taking a road trip.
