Windsor’s Polar Plunge Brings In Over $105K For Special Olympics

Sure, the Polar Plunge in Windsor didn't really feel very polar on this particularly warm and calm day.

Having no winds in Northern Colorado has been a rarity these days. But we actually had one of the warmest days of the year so far this past Saturday when thousands of people came together to support a wonderful cause: Special Olympics Colorado for the 2022 edition of the Polar Plunge and 5K run.

On that note I am happy to announce that we raised over $105K to help Special Olympics smashing the goal of $85K. So whether you were a plunger, a runner, a spectator or simply made a kind donation, thank you.

I decided to rope my morning show partner, Maxx, into plunging. Although reluctant at first, she warmed up to the idea of jumping into Windsor Lake, especially once she heard why we were doing it.

In addition to having Maxx there, I brought my son Max. Yeah, I know it's kind of strange that my morning show co-host and kid have the same name, but thankfully, she added the second "x" to make things easier.

I mean, what kid doesn't want to see his Dad jump into an ice-cold lake fully clothed for a great cause?

So once we got the pre plunge stuff done and watched the runners cross the finish line in the 5K, it was time to line up and get ready to plunge.

Shoutout to all of the groups that showed up together and helped raise a bunch of money. Two of my favorites there was a group of CSU students that showed up strong to the event, as well as the Johnstown Police Department.

All in all, it was a wonderful day for a wonderful cause, and if Special Olympics is something that is near and dear to your heart, you don't have to get all wet to show your support. This is something that you can donate to all year around and every dollar counts.
