Late Saturday morning on Boyd Lake two water vessels collided. Colorado Parks and Wildlife Rangers are investigating the crash that involved three people and sent one person to the hospital.

According to the Reporter-Herald, the investigation should be finished by next Monday. While the cause is yet to be determined, Colorado Parks and Wildlife stress the importance of safety and knowing the rules when you're out on the water, especially when it's busy.

On their website, you can read the rules, sign-up for a boating safety class, but they offer these tips:

Boat Smart: Know the Rules
Boat Safe: Wear Your Life Jacket
Boat Sober: Alcohol use is the #1 factor in recreational boating deaths! Marijuana is also considered just as dangerous as alcohol and the penalties are identical too. Many lakes, reservoirs, and rivers in Colorado are considered public property, so open display or use of marijuana is illegal.
