Loveland Police Search for Dangerous Road Rage Shooting Suspect
Loveland Police are searching for a suspect on the loose that is considered armed and dangerous. According to the Loveland Police Department, road rage incidents that involved numerous shootings occurred on July 21, 2024.
The series of events started at approximately noon when a Loveland Police officer observed a Toyota Sequoia parked at a local business in the 100 block of South Taft Avenue. The officer observed the vehicle leaving the parking and no license plate was visible anywhere on the vehicle. Loveland Police attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle, when the officer stepped out of the police cruiser, the suspect drove away from the scene.
Moments later, a 911 call was made to the Loveland Emergency Communications Center from a female driver who reported that shots were fired at her vehicle near East Eisenhower Boulevard and Hahns Peak Drive. The description of the driver had the same description as the previous suspect in fleeing the scene minutes before.
Not long after the reported shooting in Loveland, another report of a driver having their vehicle shot at came into the Weld County Dispatch Center on Interstate 25 and mile marker 235. The same description and vehicle for the previous two incidents matched.
Loveland Road Rage Shooting Suspect Wanted by Police
The suspect has been identified as 45-year-old Justin Winter Vanpelt and arrest warrants have been issued for numerous offenses including:
- Two counts of attempted murder in the second-degree
- One count of attempted murder in the second-degree
- One count of vehicular eluding
- One count of possession of weapons by a previous offender
- One count of illegal discharge of a firearm
Justin Winter Vanpelt is currently not in custody and is wanted by law enforcement. Vanpelt is considered to be armed and dangerous. Citizens are being urged to not approach the suspect if seen and to call 911 immediately.
