Water World is making some serious upgrades for the summer of 2026. If you're a native of Colorado, you've probably been to Water World at least once. I know some people who buy season passes and go multiple times a season. These people obviously know how to swim.

You're probably wondering why I never learned how to swim. It's weird, I know. You see, I grew up poor, and poor folks don't pay for swim lessons. You learn how to swim in an irrigation ditch. But Water World is making some serious changes for summer, and it might just push me to finally face my fear.

Here's what's happening at Water World

  • Over ten acres of construction is getting an overhaul.
  • The new theme of the remodel is the Colorado Mountains. Makes sense.
  • The new ride, Aspen Falls, sounds like a nightmare or a thrill ride, depending on your level of bravery. The swimmer stands in a capsule, and the floor drops. Nope.
  • The Columbine Cascade sounds a little more doable. It's a water slide with lots of twists and turns. That's a maybe for me.
  • Marmot Mayhem is a two person tube ride that takes you in and out of tunnels. This is a maybe for me.
  • Runoff Rapids is a near "zero gravity" raft ride. That's a no for me.

Here's what they have cooking for younger patrons

  • Creekside Crossing is essentially an obstacle course in the water.
  • The Puddle Dunker is pretty much water basketball.
  • Five new mini slides will be making their Water World debut for little tykes.

There's also going to be a relaxation area with lounge chairs in the water, and drinks served . This is a yes for me.

But upgrades mean change, and some Water World attractions have been shut down to make room for the new.

Here's what rides are no longer at Water World

  • Calypso Cove has been giving riders a thrill for over 40 years, but now it's gone.
  • The Screamin' Mimi and Tortuga Run have both been retired.

If you're a nostalgic Coloradoan, these changes may hurt a little, but if you're into mega thrills and know how to swim, you have to make a trek to Water World this summer.
