Two Vehicle Types Stolen in Colorado up 1,000 Percent in 4 Years
Vehicle theft in Colorado is a serious problem. In fact, Colorado ranks first for car thefts in the United States. Couple the thefts of vehicles with the high rates of catalytic converter thefts, and the thought of having a vehicle in the state of Colorado could be downright anxiety-inducing.

While you might be concerned about your vehicle getting stolen, if you happen to have a keyless ignition, you may be a little bit safer. The two types of vehicles that have been stolen the most in the state of Colorado are Kia and Hyundai models.
In particular, Kia and Hyundai with keyed ignitions according to KDVR. These types of vehicles are being stolen in Colorado at an alarming rate. In 2019, reported thefts of Kia and Hyundai vehicles were at 845 for the state of Colorado. In 2022, the number of Kia and Hyundai vehicles skyrocketed to 10,319. That is an increase of 1,121 percent in just four short years.
KDVR states that out of all of the vehicles stolen in the state of Colorado Kia and Hyundai make up one-third of all of the vehicles stolen in 2022. Kia vehicles ranked at 15 percent and Hyundai also made up another 15 percent.
If you happen to drive a Kia or a Hyundai that uses a physical key, you should be aware that your type of vehicle is targeted for theft the most in the state of Colorado. It's not to say that your vehicle will get stolen, but you may want to take extra precautions when parking someplace unfamiliar.
