Larimer County Deputy Named USA Today’s Woman of the Year
We celebrated International Women's Day recently and USA Today honored women who have made a large and meaningful impact on their communities.
We should be extremely proud in Northern Colorado because a Larimer County Sheriff's Deputy received much-deserved recognition for her impact across all of Colorado.

USA Today recognized the most impactful and inspiring women across the nation. USA Today highlighted women in every state. For the state of Colorado, Larimer County Sheriff's Deputy Cheryl Jacobs was given the prestigious mention.
Sheriff's Deputy Jacobs has been leading the way for positive change in Larimer County, especially regarding mental health services.
The Coloradoan reports that she launched a mental health co-responder program. Her program is one of the most innovative in the nation and pairs deputies with mental health professionals to address mental health crises in a calm and approachable way.
Deputy Jacobs's work ensures a compassionate strategy that is more effective. Deputy Jacobs has been part of this program for over five years.
Unique Program Leads the Way
Mental health programs are starting to change and evolve. New programs are being developed and Sherriff's Deputy Jacobs, along with the Larimer County Sheriff's Department, laid down excellent blueprints that hopefully other departments and law enforcement agencies can start using and making a larger impact on their communities.
Governor Jared Polis shared on social media that he was proud of Deputy Polis' achievement and praised her strength, resilience, and achievements.
