Glennwood Springs Hanging Lake Trail Announces Reopening Date
Hiking has been one of my favorite ways to social distance, so I was definitely bummed when a lot of NoCo's trails were closed. One of those trails was one of Coloradans' favorites, Hanging Lake Trail.
Currently, Hanging Lake Trail is closed, but Glenwood Springs' website announced that the trail will reopen June 1.
You'll also be able to bike to Hanging Lakes again starting June 1.
Hanging Lake is a 1.2 mile (1.9 km) backcountry trail in the heart of Glenwood Canyon, which itself is in the White River National Forest.
You do have to book a time to hike the trail, which costs $12 a person during Peak Season (May 1-October 31). There are roughly 350 spots available daily.
Warning: These spots do fill up quickly, so if you want to hike this trail better to book your reservation sooner rather than later, which you can do here.
You'll need hiking boots, mini-crampons and hiking poles, particularly if you're making the trek during the winter months. Pets are not allowed on the trail.
