Why Over 1,000 Flights Were Delayed at Denver International Airport Last Weekend
Last weekend was supposed to be filled with love and happiness for Valentine's Day, but it ended up being a stressful weekend for many who were traveling either to or from Denver International Airport.
There were major delays and cancellations. You are probably thinking what I was: it had to be the weather, right?
Wrong. Here is why so many flights were either delayed or canceled at Denver International Airport on Valentine's Day and President's Day weekend.
Reason For Flight Issues from Denver International Airport
KDVR reports that there were over 50 cancellations and nearly a thousand flights delayed from Denver International Airport on Saturday, February 15.

KDVR says that the majority of the flights affected SkyWest flights. The reason why there were delayed and canceled flights was due to an FAA equipment outage.
The equipment from the Federal Aviation Administration resolved the issue in under an hour, however, many flights were backed up.

Denver International Airport and Flight Cancellations
Since Denver International Airport has so many flights coming in and out, it is common to see a large number of flight delays and cancellations.
However, we shockingly found that the airport has one of the highest percentages of flights canceled or delayed. According to research last year, we discovered that over 20 percent of flights do not go as planned.
A new policy at airports across the country began last year as well. This policy means that if an airline is canceled or significantly delayed, customers are automatically entitled to a full refund.
