The Rams are ranked 25th. CSU is also the preseason favorite to repeat as Mountain West champions.  They have five returning starters off a team that went 24-6 last year and won two matches in the NCAA Tournament before bowing out to Hawaii in the regional quarterfinals.

The Big Sky Conference has announced the UNC Bears as the preseason favorite to win the conference title in Volleyball. It is the second-straight season the Bears will go into the year as the favorite. Northern Colorado finished 2011 with a 22-9 overall mark and a 13-3 Big Sky record before sweeping both Eastern Washington and Portland State in the Big Sky Championship to advance to the NCAA Tournament.
