Colorado State University Homecoming and Family Weekend Celebration [SCHEDULE]
Colorado State University 's Homecoming and Family Weekend will be packed with activities for everyone in the family October 10th-12th. This year’s Homecoming celebration will highlight events, including a mentalist, the Distinguished Alumni Awards Banquet, Festival on the Oval, the parade, pep rally, bonfire, and fireworks, a volleyball match against Utah State, annual Homecoming 5K Race, an open house at the Durrell Center and the CSU football game against San Jose State.
FESTIVAL ON THE OVAL - OCTOBER 11
Festival on the Oval will kick off the weekend at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11 on the University’s historic Oval. Alumni, students, parents, families and community members are all invited to enjoy music by Better than Bacon, local food, a beer garden, inflatable activities and share in the fun before watching the parade from the best seats in town.
HOMECOMING PARADE - OCTOBER 11
The Homecoming parade will begin at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at the intersection of Howes Street and Oak Street in downtown Fort Collins and will end at the intersection of Meridian Avenue and University Avenue. The 90-minute parade will feature CAM the Ram, the CSU Marching Band and a wide variety of student and community organizations. Dorothy Horrell, chair of the Board of Governors of the Colorado State University System, will serve as Grand Marshal of the 2013 Colorado State University Homecoming parade. PEP RALLY - BONFIRE - FIREWORKS - OCTOBER 11
The pep rally, bonfire, fireworks and lighting of the ‘A’ will begin on the Lory Student Center West Lawn after the culmination of the Homecoming Parade. The event is free and open to the public.
HOMECOMING 5K RACE - OCTOBER 12
The annual Homecoming 5K Race is Saturday, October 12 beginning at 8 a.m. at the CSU Oval. Participants of all ages are encouraged to join. Proceeds from the race will benefit the Heart Disease Prevention Program of the Human Performance Clinical/Research Lab. Registration is $25 by Oct. 11 and $30 if registering the day of the event. OPEN HOUSE AT DURRELL CENTER - OCTOBER 12
This year, campus and community members are invited to an open house at the newly renovated Durrell Center, a student programming building that includes a dining center that showcases a new modern style, a gelato bar and Ram waffles! Light refreshments and donut holes will be served for free on the main level and tours of the building will be offered. Parents visiting students with meal plans eat for free in the residence halls, and community guests also can purchase a ticket at the door for $6 for a hearty all-you-care-to-eat Homecoming breakfast.
FAMILY WEEKEND TAILGATE - OCTOBER 12
The Homecoming and Family Weekend Tailgate will be held from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. preceding the CSU v. San Jose State game, which kicks off at 1:30 p.m. Tickets for the tailgate are $20 for Alumni Association and Ram Club members and $25 for non-members. The Homecoming Football Game - CSU vs. San Jose State - will kickoff at 1:30 p.m. at Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium.
CSU RAM VOLLEYBALL - OCTOBER 12
CSU Ram volleyball will take on Boise State at 7 p.m. Oct. 10 at Moby Arena. Tickets can be purchased online at homecoming.colostate.edu or at csurams.com.
