The 30th Anniversary of Breckenridge International Snow Sculpture Championships is January 20-29.

According to Breckenridge's tourism website, "16 teams from around the world descend on Breckenridge, Colorado to hand-carve 20-ton blocks of snow into enormous, intricate works of art".

Artists have five days (Jan. 20-24) and only use hand tools and creativity, because power tools are not allowed.

Judging will be on the Jan. 24.

Teams:  USA-Alaska, Argentina, USA-Breckenridge, China, Ecuador, France-Normandie, Germany, Great Britain, India, Mexico, USA-Minnesota, Mongolia, Switzerland, Turkey, USA-Wisconsin, USA-Vermont.

You can enjoy this temporary outdoor art gallery in historic downtown Breckenridge January 25-29.

This is and has always been a free event open to the general public, according to Breckenridge's website.
