Charley Barnes Is No Fairweather Rider
I have now owned my current bike, an Electra Glide Ultra Class, also known in the riding world as a "Geezer Glide" for just over 4 years. I sat down last week with my mileage records and what I saw on the calculator summed up what I already knew: I ride A LOT!
After crunching the numbers my yearly average over 4 years was an astounding 16,128 miles per year. To put that into perspective, I put on less that 3000 miles TOTAL on my 4 wheel cage over that same 4 year time period.
The National average for miles per year on a motorcycle are about 2500 ; man, I do that in a month!
One "weekend warrior" told me last week that I have that big of an average because of all my Iron Butt rides but in reality, that isn't it at all. Take a look:
- SaddleSore 1000 - 1000 miles in 24 hours
- Bun Burner 1500 - 1500 miles in 36 hours
- SaddleSore 2000 - 2000 miles in 48 hours
- Bun Burner Gold - 1500 miles in 24 hours
That is a total of 6000 miles on Iron Butt rides, soon to be 7000 when I nail the "In State 1000" later this summer.
Anyone up for a ride?
