Why is it So Smoky in Colorado Today?
Your Commute on Friday morning might have been a confusing one. The sky looked like it was filled with fog, but you smelled smoke. You're not crazy for thinking you smelled smoke, because that is exactly what it is. But what is all the smoke from?
The National Weather Service has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for almost all of Colorado due to wildfire smoke. The Air Quality Health Advisory is in effect from 6 a.m. Friday morning through 4 p.m.

All of the smoke is from early wildfire activity in Canada. Wildfires in British Columbia and Alberta have burned more than one million acres. The Canadian wildfire smoke made its way into Colorado on Thursday and could remain in our area over the course of the next couple of days.
Staying Healthy With Heavy Smoke Present
Those that have heart disease, respiratory illnesses, young children, and the elderly should limit activity outdoors when heavy smoke is present. One way to be certain that unhealthy amounts of smoke are present in your area is by how far you can see. If you have less than five miles of visibility, smoke has reached an unhealthy level and you should stay indoors as much as possible.
