U.S. Government Cracks Down On Binge Drinking Scientists
American scientists at McMurdo Station in Antarctica were busted for binge drinking after a recent health and safety audit from the U.S. government.
The National Science Foundation (NSF) says heavy drinking found among scientists was creating "unpredictable behavior that has led to fights, indecent exposure, and employees arriving to work under the influence."
McMurdo Station has 3 bars, and one researcher was even found brewing his own beer in a science lab.
The NSF is now considering imposing a teetotal mandate and sending breathalyzers to McMurdo Station in Antarctica to enforce it. This could prove to be difficult, however - even though the U.S. government owns the base, it is not on U.S. territory and there is no legal jurisdiction.
