The Spirit of John Jacoby Lives on Through 28 Hours of Hope
I cried yesterday. I blame John Jacoby. John was the wonderful Windsor resident who was senselessly murdered while riding his bicycle. John was so loved by our community because of his kindness and giving spirit. Yesterday the spirit of John was alive and well. Leave it to John to find a way to keep making a difference even though he has physically left this earth.
One of the things we are most proud of is the fact that our 28 Hours of Hope meant so much to John. It is our annual fundraiser to raise money to fight child abuse in Northern Colorado and John was a champion for the cause. He would raise money for us every year and looked forward to it all year long. When John passed, the community was asked to make a donation to charities that John supported in his name. We were blown away yesterday to receive a check from John, presented by members of his family, for thousands of dollars that was donated by the members of this community. I could feel John smiling down on us as I was handed the check. I could feel his hug and sense his pride.
We are in talks to organize an annual fundraising event in John's name to raise money for the 28 Hours of Hope. As long as we do a 28 Hours, we will have John's legacy be a part of it. There is no better way to honor him. You will never be forgotten John. Thank you for continuing to be there for us.
We still need your help in solving this case.
