None of us understand why our friend was shot and killed while riding his bicycle on May 19th, just north of Windsor. It was a senseless murder of kind-hearted man, who was a friend to the entire community. Hundreds of people from that community packed into Faith United Church of Christ and hundreds more overflowed into Windsor High School to celebrate the life of John Jacoby on Friday afternoon.

All the firefighters from Windsor Severance Fire Rescue  were at the memorial in full uniform along with EMTs and firefighters from around the state, because John was such a fan of the fire department and his brother is an EMT. Only two people spoke at the funeral, Reverend Fred Evenson and our own Brian Gary.

7 News in Denver filmed the entire service, so it could be broadcast for the folks who were in the overflow area at Windsor High School.  This video even includes the time time before the service as friends and family of John are filing into the church. Reverend Evenson starts to speak just a little over one hour and seven minutes into the YouTube video. Brian speaks one hour and 48 minutes into the video.
