It was only a few short years ago that Shane Carwin was on top of the mixed martial arts (MMA) world. But being 38, has taken a toll on the Greeley native. That is why the former UFC interim heavyweight champion called it quits on Tuesday.
Get ready to hear a huge roar coming out of Northern Colorado on Saturday night. Shane Carwin of Greeley will be stepping into the octagon against Junior Dos Santos for UFC 131 in Vancouver. This is Carwins’ first trip into battle since his loss to Brock Lesnar last July in a brutal match that ended in Shane tapping out after hammering Lesnar mercilessly for 5 minutes and then running out of gas.
Greeley native Shane Carwin is back! UFC 131 is coming up June 11th and our local boy has a chance to fight his way into a title shot. Brock Lesnar was originally scheduled to fight Junior Dos Santos but has had to pull out due to illness. The winner of the fight will get a shot at the champion Cain Velasquez.
