
Another Colorado Wolf Dies Across State Lines
A gray wolf relocated from British Columbia to Colorado earlier this year by Colorado Parks and Wildlife has died across state lines.
According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife, wolf 2513, died in Wyoming. Colorado Parks and Wildlife was made aware of the death by Wyoming Game and Fish on Wednesday, April 9. Currently, details are unclear as to how the male gray wolf died, and chances are, we may never know.

What We Know About the Latest Colorado Wolf Death
According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Wyoming Game and Fish, any further information on the death of the male gray wolf as a state law prevented any further information from being shared. Wyoming Game and Fish coordinated with Colorado Parks and Wildlife to return the GPS collar that was on the gray wolf when it died in Wyoming.

Wolf 2513 was part of the second deployment of the reintroduction of wolves into the state of Colorado. This male wolf was relocated from a remote part of British Columbia, Canada in early 2025. The wolves in the second release were captured over the course of six days, then relocated to isolated areas in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.
This is the second death of a relocated wolf from the latest release in Colorado. Colorado Parks and Wildlife says that there will be no further information or statements released regarding the death of gray wolf 2513 in the state of Wyoming.
