Colorado Parks and Wildlife wrapped up the second round of reintroduction of gray wolves into the state in January 2025. In February, they released photos of the operation that took place on January 18, 2025.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife worked with officials from British Columbia to capture 15 gray wolves in Canada to be released into the wild of Colorado's high country. These wolves were captured over a six-day period and transported back to Colorado.

The second round of wolves reintroduced into Colorado was released in a specific area where there were no overlapping areas that had livestock present in the counties of Eagle and Pitkin. The wolves chosen for relocation from British Columbia to Colorado are believed to not have been involved in any livestock depredations.
