Colorado Park Temporarily Closes Due to Aggressive Bear Activity

Summer in Colorado means the presence of wildlife in many areas. Some of the wildlife can be harmless and a great sight to see. On the other hand, some animals that call Colorado home can be very dangerous.

One of those animals is a bear. The Colorado black bear can and will eat thousands of calories a day during the active months. As you can imagine, berries and other vegetation in the mountains aren't all that calorie-dense.

When bears get the urge to eat, they can sometimes resort to moving into areas where humans are present. This is where bears can become dangerous.

Apex Park Near Golden Closed Due to Bear Activity

According to KDVR, one Colorado park has closed due to aggressive bear activity. The park, located in Jefferson County, has been temporarily closed while Colorado Parks and Wildlife monitors the situation.

The closure of the 800-acre park that has trails up Lookout Mountain is a popular place for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts, and is located south of downtown Golden. Currently, there is no further information from Colorado Parks and Wildlife regarding the closure of Apex Park for aggressive bear activity.
