Sandwich lovers were saddened to learn about the recent closure of a popular lunch spot located in mid-town Fort Collins.

According to the restaurant's official website, as of January 2023, the Schlotzsky's at 4212 South College Avenue has permanently closed up shop.

The counter-serve chain was known for serving specialty deli sandwiches, gourmet flatbreads, and salads. The restaurant also offered catering options. The national establishment is also known for its signature sourdough bun.

A thread on Reddit revealed that the building which housed the Fort Collins Schlotzky's is now under construction. And while one sandwich shop is toast, another is reportedly set to rise in the same spot. Reddit user Smash-Brando commented that Daddy O's Green Onion will be taking over the South College location. Daddy O's already has a location in Loveland, which is loved by locals. Their menu offers a selection of toasted sandwiches, atop bread that's made from scratch daily, as well as soups, pizza, and more.

It sounds like Daddy O's will fill the void of Fort Collins' Schlotzky's nicely.

And fortunately for sandwich aficionados still needing their Schlotzky's fix, five other franchises currently remain open in Colorado. There are three Schlotzky's in Colorado Springs, one on North Wenatchee Street in Denver, and another shop located in Greenwood Village.
