In many states across the country, the top paid public official is usually a college athletic coach for either basketball or football. Colorado is no different.

When looking at all public figures throughout the state, University of Colorado-Boulder head football coach Mike Macintyre made just over $2 million last season. That ranks him as the highest paid official in Colorado.

According to the Coloradoan, it is approximately $600,000 more than the next highest paid official in the state.

Macintyre is contracted to be with the Buffaloes through the 2018 season.

The average compensation for an athletic coach is $1.81 million throughout the country, according to the story.

The highest paid employee in the state of Wyoming is University of Wyoming football coach Craig Bohle. He makes $850,000 per year.
