After many prayers and rain dances, it looks like we are finally going to get some rain in Colorado. Hallelujah. According to the 9News Weather Impact Team, the rain and snow we're about to see will hopefully be the most we've seen in the past seven months.

It has been so dry that we, as Coloradoans, have seen miles of brown grass and have been ordered to follow low level (for now) water restrictions. Currently in Northern Colorado, water restrictions are at level 1, which means cautious watering. Cautious watering means the powers that be are asking residents to water only three days a week and strongly recommend NOT watering between 10 am and 6 pm.

I know that in our house, letting the dog out in the backyard means bringing in at least 5 pounds of dead grass. Sigh.

Here's what you need to know about the upcoming moisture in Colorado

  • The weather switch up is said to be happening mainly on Thursday and Friday.
  • The mountains will see more snowfall, while down the mountain, we will get more rain.
  • This is going to be the most moisture we've seen in the past seven months. Wow.
  • There could be up to 0.5 inches of rain, which might not sound like a ton, but to our dry grass, it will be a nice drink.
  • Basically, the honor system is currently in place at Northern Colorado, but experts predict the rules will only get tighter and tighter.
  • Don't be like us. We've already set our sprinkler system (boo us), and the folks in charge are strongly recommending not to. Ooops.

Just because it's predicted doesn't mean it's actually going to happen. It's Colorado, and IYKYK. But we'll keep praying for rainy relief.
