As local neighborhoods fill up with more and more kids, Poudre School District schools are filling up, leaving less room for kiddos from other neighborhoods to opt into the school of their choice.

School of choice is a state-required program allowing parents to pick a school that is best suited for their child. But  parents are not guaranteed a spot in one particular school just because they want their kids to go to that school. The school must follow capacity rules set forth by the district and the building requirements.

According to the Coloradoan, the district has received over five-thousand school of choice requests and only about 17-hundred were accepted.
