Six New Gray Wolf Pups Born in Colorado

One Colorado wolf pack has grown in population this year as the One Ear Pack in Jackson County, Colorado, shows six new pups.

So far, Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials have revealed that six new gray wolf pups have been born in Colorado to two packs in 2025. The gray wolf pups from the One Ear pack were captured on video frolicking and playing in a meadow in Jackson County.

Pup Count Still Uncertain, Officials Say

While six pups were spotted, the number of gray wolf pups is not confirmed by Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials on the actual count of pups in the pack.

We know that there are at least six pups in the One Ear Pack, but there is a possibility that there were additional pups we did not see.

Said Eric Odell, Wolf Conservation Manager with Colorado Parks and Wildlife, to 9 News.

Gray Wolf Pup Survival Rates and Lifespan

Gray wolves can give birth to an average of four to six pups, and the survival rate for the young wolves varies by location. Estimates of survival for gray wolf pups in the first year are 50 to 60 percent, with the average life expectancy of a gray wolf in the Rocky Mountain Region usually being three to four years.

Many in Colorado are against the reintroduction of wolves into the state. However, it is pretty adorable to see these six gray wolf pups playing in a meadow. You can see the video posted by Colorado Parks and Wildlife on X, below.
