Loveland Woman Gets $50,000 Settlement for Topless Frisbee Ticket
Knowing the law paid off for a Loveland woman who was cited for playing Frisbee while topless in her back yard.
Effie Krokos will receive a $50,000 settlement from the City of Loveland after she was cited for being topless on her own property. She claims that she "didn't do this for the money" and goes on to say "I did it just because I thought I was equal to a guy.... I had gotten overheated."
A few hours later the police were at her door. Loveland Police officer Greg Harris explained that her being topless was "pissing off the neighbors. You're making the neighbors mad." He handed her a summons to appear in court for a charge of indecent exposure.
Krokos hired Killmer, Lane & Newman's David Lane as her attorney. He is famously known for his participation in the "Free the Nipple" case in Fort Collins.
Loveland initially offered to dismiss the charges, but that wasn't good enough for Krokos. She filed a lawsuit and the City of Loveland rolled over and gave her $50,000 to settle the case.
