One Coloradan Keeps Losing Their "Unique" Pet

There is nothing worse for a pet parent than losing track of your furry (or scaly) friend.

You know the feeling, that drop in your gut when you realize you can't seem to find them. You're turning over every single item in your home to get a glimpse of them.

This happened to me a few weeks ago when I moved into my new apartment. I have two cats and for the past few years, we all had been living in a one bedroom apartment.

Kind of tough to lose two cats in a small living space like that, right?

My new place is a two bedroom. So, now my pets August and Cornelia have plenty of room to run around and wreak havoc.

The one set back of this space is that the apartment has gray floors. Doesn't seem like that big of a deal, huh?

Well, somehow I didn't realize when I was checking out the apartment, that my one cat's fur almost perfectly matches the pattern of these floor tiles.

On my second day in the new home, I searched high and low, but couldn't seem to find little Corn. I went through almost every stage of grief at the thought that my precious cat had somehow gotten out without me seeing.

A few moments later, I decided to see if she might still be inside of the apartment by opening up a can of wet food.

WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT THE MOMENT CORNELIA HEARD FOOD BEING PREPPED, SHE WOULD ZIP OUT OF HER HIDING SPOT?!?

I was able to take a deep breath and relax at the thought that both of my cats were still there.

This Colorado Kangaroo Just Keeps Escaping

That fear of somehow losing your pet hits every pet parent; whether you have a cat, dog, fish, or even...a kangaroo.

Earlier this week, Denver 7 News reported that Durango Colorado Police had to apprehend a runaway who had escaped once before.

Meet Irwin: The Red Kangaroo on the Run

This was not a criminal trying to escape prison, or even a child trying to get out of bedtime; it was just a red kangaroo named Irwin.

Last October, Irwin escaped from his owner and was safely apprehended by Durango police. The video of the encounter went viral on social media, according to reports.

Well, Irwin was at it again!

Law enforcement officials were called out on Monday, May 19th to deal with the "repeat offender." Police officers were able to find Irwin and safely put him in the back of a patrol car, so he could be returned to his owner.

You can check out the full video from the Durango Police Department down below.

Can You Own a Kangaroo in Colorado?

It's actually legal in the Centennial State to own a red kangaroo, according to the Colorado Parks & Wildlife Department.

You are not allowed to actually remove an animal from the wild and take it home as a pet.
