An Investigation Is Underway in Fort Collins

An investigation is well underway following a startling incident in Northern Colorado over the weekend.

Police Respond to Late-Night Call in Fort Collins

Early on Monday morning, officials from the Fort Collins Police Services issued a statement regarding an incident that took place overnight.

Where and When the Incident Happened

At around 10:30 PM on June 15th, Fort Collins police officers were called to a home in the 700 Block of Eastdale to deal with an "argument." Once law enforcement arrived to the scene, they reportedly located a man outside of this home wielding a knife.

According to the social media press release, the suspect involved refused to cooperate with police after multiple attempts to apprehend him. Officers allegedly resorted to "less lethal tools" to detain him, but he "refused to comply."

At this point, a Fort Collins Police Service officer fired his handgun and struck the suspect, according to officials. Law enforcement officials at the scene reportedly called for medical response.

Following this altercation, the unnamed man was taken into custody and transported to a nearby hospital. As of June 16th at 11:30 AM, there is no word on the condition of this suspect.

Details regarding this specific case are slim, but here is what we do know.

Is There a Threat to the Public?

There is no "continued threat to the community" nor were any civilians or police officers injured following this altercation, according to the  press release from the Fort Collins Police Service.

Right now, the Critical Response Team is activated to look into the case. The Larimer County Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation, so going forward any information dealing with the incident will come from them.
