Running a bar in Colorado can be a lot of work, especially if you have to deal with unruly customers when they drink. This sober bar in Loveland won't be having to deal with that.

Dance Club in Downtown Loveland Closes, Making Way for Sober Bar

In mid-July of 2025, a dance club/rage room that had not been open for very long in Downtown Loveland, Lyssa, announced that it would be closing, and turning the property over to The Love Shack.

The Love Shack had at one time had plans to open at another location in Loveland (the former Hobnob Restaurant,) but those plans fell through.

The Love Shack took over 120 East 4th Street in late July/early August of 2025, becoming Northern Colorado newest sober bar, with crafted non-alcoholic drinks, soft drinks and light food items.

While Lyssa had a rage room downstairs, The Lovel Shack's plan is to have pinball machines, pool tables, areas for board gaming (like Dungeons & Dragons,) and other "non-violent" options. Though I did stop in one time at Lyssa for a drink, I never did see the rage rooms at Lyssa; can't say that I'm upset.

When the space was Lyssa, the upstairs was where the EDM DJs would spin their records for the crowds below. As The Love Shack, the upstairs is about "conversation," with a "clouds" vibe. "Let's head up to the Cloud Room and talk."

When I stopped into The Love Shack in early August of 2025, they were still getting things off the ground. The did take down the Lyssa "Goddess of Rage" mural that was behind the bar; they also used a few of the letters from the old "Lyssa" sign that hung above the door to spell out their own personality: "SLAY."

I had one of their Watermelon Crawl crafted cocktails; it was refreshing and tasty, well worth the $7.

MORE COLOADO BARS - These Axe-Throwing Bars Have Some of the Greatest Names

Being in radio, where we have to be creative often, I get a kick when I see other industries being creative; such as in the naming of their axe-throwing bar/establishment.

Inside a Colorado Grocery Store that Has a Bar

Colorado grocery stores have a new player in town, Woods Market. Right across I-25 from Buc-ee's, this grocery store is much more than a supermarket.
