Voters were mailed ballots earlier in the month, with a deadline of February 24, 2026 to have them returned to the city.

Ballot Issue 1A seeks to repeal the city's approval of the entertainment complex at Highway 34 and County Road 17, that is designed to cover 834 acres with a new Colorado Eagles arena in addition to a water park and hotel, plus houses in a master-planned community. The project actually already has gotten under way and has a target completion date for 2028.

The question on the ballot asks: "Shall Ordinance 30, 2025 authorizing changes to the zoning map of the City of Greeley establishing the Cascadia Planned Unit Development (PUD) for a property located North of US Highway 34 and East of Weld County Road 17 including approximately 834 acres to create a master-planned community, be repealed?"

Voters were tasked with voting Yes or No, and submitting their ballots by 7 PM last night, February 24, 2026.

As of their final report of totals last evening - though these results are still unofficial - the "Yes" camp seems to have prevailed, outnumbering the "No" votes by a pretty healthy margin.

More than 20,000 residents submitted ballots, with 11,342 voting yes to repeal, and only 9.506 voting no, in favor of the project continuing.

While the repeal vote doesn't entirely kill the proposal and project, it would at least stop it from continuing for about a year. What happens next remains to be seen.

Proposed Greeley West Side Project and Eagles Hockey Arena Vision

The city of Greeley and Water Valley Company are exploring a public-private partnership to develop a community in west Greeley that would include an arena that would house the Colorado Eagles at the center of an entertainment and transportation hub.

The phased development could ultimately grow to 5,000 acres, one of Northern Colorado's largest developments. Below are some pictures. Here's the whole story.
