Is Colorado’s Favorite Condiment Even Considered a Condiment?
Tell us if you think this item falls into the condiment category.
One of the things that I love about summer is grilling. You can put just about anything on the grill. My favorite, is a classic burger with the perfect amount of char and extra cheese. It's heaven! I usually don't put condiments like mustard or ketchup on my burgers, but sometimes you just can't resist adding in an extra layer of flavor.
Ever wonder which condiment is Colorado's favorite?
Luckily, we don't have to wonder very long as Mental Floss has answered that question for us. They put together a list of the Most Popular Condiment in Each State. Some of the items on the list are standard condiments like ketchup and mustard. However, the definition of condiment is "something used to give a special flavor to food, as mustard, ketchup, salt, or spices", so I guess our favorite item technically makes the cut.
On the list, Nature's Way Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is the most popular condiment in our state. It's hard for me to wrap my head around this one because I don't view oils in general as condiments. In my opinion, condiments are used after the cooking process to add flavor. But, then again, I drizzle olive oil on things like pasta so I guess I stand corrected.
