Some Incarcerated Colorado Residents Can Vote This Year
Election season is here in Colorado. Are you registered to vote yet? Of course, we have a presidential election on the ballot this year, but there are many local politicians and laws on the ballot as well.
Make sure to read through your entire voting ballot and research everything you are voting for. I know you might roll your eyes, but it does make a huge difference when you go beyond the three-sentence summary of future laws in Colorado.

More Coloradans are going to be able to vote this year than in previous elections due to a new law created by Governor Jared Polis.
Voting Behind Bars Now Legalized in Colorado
While convicted felons are incarcerated they lose the right to vote. In no way, shape, or form can they vote while serving their sentence.
However, a new law put in place by Governor Polis states that some Colorado residents are allowed to vote while they are behind bars.
NBC announced that 16 prisons in Colorado will let prisoners vote if they are awaiting trial or serving time for a misdemeanor.
While Colorado bars those serving time for felony convictions from voting, it is legal for incarcerated people awaiting trial or serving time for misdemeanors to cast ballots in the state. - Jace C. Trimm
Voting Booths for Prisons in Colorado
Voting will take place in prisons across Colorado. Counties will pick employees to carry out the voting process such as handing out ballots, monitoring votes, and ensuring the voting process goes as smoothly as possible.
