FEMA is in search of volunteers to help with operations at the mass vaccination clinic at The Ranch.

According to CBS4, the site currently vaccinates over 1,600 people per day, and FEMA expects that number to rise following Colorado's shift to Phase 2 in the COVID-19 vaccine rollout on Friday (April 2).

Abby Eichorn, Incident Commander for FEMA, told the station that an increase in volunteers would allow them to vaccinate over 2,200 people per day by next week.

"We hope to have it [running] for as long as there is a need here in Colorado," she said. "Volunteers have been a huge piece of this for us."

Volunteers do not need to have any medical experience, and assist with directing traffic, checking in patients, and monitoring them for reactions post-vaccine.

While these tasks may seem small, Eichorn noted that volunteers "are playing a huge role in helping to end the pandemic."

Volunteers are asked to work from two to five hours a day, individually or in groups. Lunch is provided, as well as regular breaks.

To volunteer, sign up through the United Way of Larimer County at nocovolunteers.org.

The vaccination site at The Ranch opened up at the end of last month, making it the fifth site in Colorado. Officials hope that they will eventually be able to vaccinate 3,000 people there per day.
