Does Living in Colorado Make You More Likely to Fall For a Scam?
Scams are happening all the time, and it seems like every day someone is trying to scam you. Sadly, this is a part of the world we live in, and through the computer, phones, in person, and other ways, scams are likely trying to get you to give up information or money. No matter where you live, someone will try to scam you in some way. Does living in Colorado make you more vulnerable to scams than other places, and does it make you more of a target?
The Most Vulnerable States For Scams

Some places are bigger targets for scams for one reason or another. There are certain states that are targeted more often, and recently, Duelbits.com revealed which states are the most targeted and which are the least vulnerable to scams. The study revealed that Florida is the most targeted state, with Maine being the second most targeted. There are a few things that play into this, such as the average age of residents, online spending, remote workers, cyber crimes, searches for online scams, and monthly scam calls. Where does Colorado fall on this list, and should you be worried about being targeted for scams simply by living in the Centennial State?
Colorado is One of the Most Scammed States in the Country

Sadly, according to the study, living in Colorado does make you more of a target for scams than other states. Colorado is the third most targeted state when it comes to scams. Colorado has 31.7% of employees working remotely, which is the highest in the country, and spends the second-highest average for online shopping in the country at an average of $3,843 per year. Colorado is one of the highest in the country for cyber crimes, averaging 214 per 100,000 residents. The national average is 16.1, placing Colorado well above the average. Over $16.6 billion is lost in America yearly to scams, and scammers continue to get smarter with their methods.

Who knew that living in Colorado could result in you being more vulnerable to scams? It is scary to think about how smart scammers are getting and how they are evolving. When in doubt, do not give out personal information on the phone, make sure to check your bank accounts frequently and keep tabs on what you buy, and don't give out personal information online, unless it is a trusted site. We are all targets for scams; the key is not giving the scammers what they want and falling for it.
