Cops With Christmas Spirit Hand Out $100 Bills Instead of Tickets
Here's one time when it's good to be stopped by police.
Police in Monroe County, Ga., pulled over drivers last week, but gave them $100 bills instead of tickets.
Yup, Christmas came early for these lucky souls.
An anonymous donor gave the sheriff's department $5,000 and requested that instead of tickets, drivers receive the money to help them during the holidays.
The donor's generosity was a big hit. Renee Smith was one of the beneficiaries of the surprise who appreciated the gesture. She said, "It's gonna help Christmas. We've only bought one gift for my grandson, and that's it. We haven't done anything else so far."
Monroe County Sheriff John Bittick says he hopes the stunt will be renewed next year.
