One woman right here in Colorado did not raise a dime and she was shocked to find out that she was running for the highest office in the nation.

Colorado Woman Accidentally Put on Ballot

Krystal Gabel, a marijuana activist, was accidentally put on the ballot in Minnesota. There is one problem: she has no intention of running.

Since voting for the caucus has already started in the state of Minnesota she is not able to take her name off of the ballot.

She says that she found out about her Presidential campaign when she received a Google alert.

Could you imagine waking up one day, looking at your phone, and finding out that you are running for President of the United States?

What Gabel Says About Her Presidental Run

Krystal Gabel spoke to the Minnesota Star Tribune about her situation and dilemma. She is running for Minnesota's Legal Marijuana Party.

Yes, that is a real party. And no, we have not ever heard about it either.

She told the Minnesota  Star Tribune that she never approved of being on the ballot. Due to a legal loophole, she is unable to remove herself.

Of course, there is not a likely chance that Gabel could win. But it does explore a larger problem.

This Raises A Larger Question

Can we vote for somebody who has no interest in running for President? Of course, you can write in names, but this is entirely different.

Minnesota is different than Colorado. Here is what the law says in the Centennial State according to the Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold.

In Colorado, a person who wishes to be a write-in candidate for an office in an election must file an affidavit of intent stating that he or she desires the office and is qualified to assume its duties if elected.
