#1 Reported Roadkill in Colorado Is Very Surprising Animal
We see a lot of roadkill in Northern Colorado. I drive on a lot of country roads and I am certainly sure I see at least five squished animals on my way to work every morning. Has anybody else noticed that there is new roadkill on CO-257 nearly every day?
Roadkill is not surprising to see. It's an unfortunate reality of being a driver. Anytime I have hit a squirrel it makes me sad for the rest of the day. Call me overly sensitive, but I won't apologize.

I believe that since it is so common, Coloradans do not waste their time reporting squirrels. For many, it would simply be a waste of time.

The Colorado Department of Transportation releases roadkill reports annually. The report specifies what animal was run over and what time of the year is most common for roadkill.
If you were wondering, July is typically the month where you will see the most roadkill on roads in Colorado. Elk and raccoons made the top three, but one animal was without a doubt the most reported.

In Colorado, you are allowed to collect the remains of small animals like squirrels, skunks, raccoons, or rabbits without reporting it.
