Colorado Rental Prices May Dramatically Drop in 2025 Due to This
We all know that rental prices are high in Colorado. Of course, rental prices fluctuate depending on which city or town you call home, but for many, high rental prices are the main reason some residents can not thrive financially how they hope to.
I live in Fort Collins and I pay relatively low rent compared to the market. I consider myself very lucky. Despite my savings, I still pay a lot for rent compared to other cities nationwide with similar sizes and populations.
However, some relief may be coming. We have math to thank.
Algorithm Could Make Colorado Rent Cheaper
Did I just say thank you to math? I really thought I would never say such a phrase. I hate math. However, AXIOS reports that Colorado lawmakers are planning to adjust algorithms that decide what rental prices would be.
AXIOS notes that Colorado residents who live in the Denver Metro paid $136 more than they should per month. Lawmakers blame the algorithm for these additional costs.

Colorado Wants to Know What a Rental Algorithm Is
You might be wondering the same thing as me. Wait, algorithms set prices for rentals in Colorado?
In many cases, they do.
A rental algorithm sets the price of your rental based on many factors. These factors could include, but are not limited to location, comparing rates in areas, demand of housing, and whether or not a renter is willing to pay that rate.
