
CO Has a Major Drug Problem Compared to Other States
Drugs are in every state. No matter if you don't see it, it is around you in some form. Depending on who you ask, each person considers different things to be drugs. Most agree that certain drugs are bad for everyone and are illegal, but what about marijuana? In Colorado, it is legal, but in other states it is illegal, so is it considered a drug or not? No matter, even without weed, many other drugs are being sold and consumed around the Centennial State. Does Colorado have a drug problem, and compared to other states, how bad is the drug scene here?
States With the Most and Least Drug Usage
Some states have a worse drug scene than others, and some states are fairly clean compared to others. A recent study by WalletHub ranked the states by their drug usage and the drug problems they have. Using categories such as drug use and addiction, law enforcement, and drug health issues and rehab, it was determined that the states with the most drug issues are New Mexico, with Arkansas being second, and Alaska being third. The state with the lowest drug usage is Utah, which should come as no surprise if you know anything about the state's residents. The state with the second lowest drug usage is Florida, which may surprise many, considering Miami is usually the location for movies involving drugs coming from other countries. The third lowest drug usage is in Minnesota. Where does Colorado fall on this list, and how bad is it here?
Does Colorado Have a Drug Issue?
Colorado is among the top ten states when it comes to drug usage in the United States. Colorado comes in on the list at seventh. Colorado is 12 in drug use and addiction, 12 in law enforcement, and 27 in drug health issues and rehab. It is safe to say that there is a drug problem in the state, with such high drug usage taking place. One thing the list doesn't address is what is considered a drug. As mentioned above, some states consider marijuana a drug, while other states don't view it as one because it is legal. Does that play a factor in these rankings?
