An outing that thousands of Coloradans look forward to each years is having to bypass the Centennial State.

It sure didn't look great when they announced in early September that 'Ice Castles' wouldn't be able to set up in Dillon, like they usually do; but it did seem that they'd land in Colorado, just the same.

That appears to not be the case, as Denver Gazette has the news that 'Ice Castles' will in fact not be building their massive structures here after all.

The company had been in talks with Silverthorne and the Outlets at Silverthorne, but it seems time just ran out on getting things organized enough to sign a deal for the 2021-2022 season.

So, as there are normally six locations for 'Ice Castles' each season, Colorado falls off the list, leaving New York, Wisconsin, New Hampshire, Minnesota and Utah.

Utah. It's not that far. Maybe that could be their new slogan: 'Utah: We're Not That Far.'

It's about seven hours in the car to get to Midway, Utah, where they hold 'Ice Castles.' Homestead Resort is the location for the event, where they also have a crater that's an attraction.  Craters go down, ice structures go up, it's an cute mix.

Then again, maybe you want to make it a great big trip and go to the Twin Cities in Minnesota to not only do 'Ice Castles' but Prince's Paisley Park as well. You could even get a picture with the Mary Tyler Moore statue, if you've got 'spunk.'

Hopefully, 'Ice Castles' will be back in Summit County for the 2022-2023 season. Get more on the 2021 cancelation from the Denver Gazette HERE.
