A Colorado Man Has Been Arrested in the Killing of 3 Bears
A Colorado man has been arrested on numerous charges of the deaths of three bears. According to KDVR, a man from Howard, Colorado is being accused of killing three bears that were dumped near southeast of Salida.
A sow and two cubs were discovered on Monday, September 25, 2023. The three bears died of gunshot wounds. When Colorado Parks and Wildlife discovered the incident, an investigation began.
Many anonymous tips and reports were sent to Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the investigation led officers to a suspect. After being granted a warrant in the investigation, Paul Stromberg, 53, was arrested and booked at Fremont County Jail on charges of one felony count of illegal destruction of wildlife, three misdemeanor counts of willful destruction of wildlife, three counts of unlawfully hunting black bears, three counts of unlawful possession of wildlife, and three counts of wasting edible portions of game meat.
Stromberg was released from Fremont County Jail on a $10,000 bond. Colorado Parks and Wildlife is asking the public with any information on this incident to contact the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Salida Office at 719-530-5520.
