New data from Compare the Market shows that Colorado has the worst auto theft issue in the entire nation. According to Compare the Market, Colorado has the highest auto theft rate. Here is the data they found.
Shocking Numbers Behind Colorado Auto Thefts
According to the data, there are 731 auto thefts for every 100,000 people. Additionally, they found that there is a total of 117 stolen vehicles a day in the state and an average of five per hour.
Think about that for a moment. 117 vehicles a day. Another study found that in 2024, a vehicle was stolen every 20 minutes.
How Police Are Fighting Auto Theft in Colorado
Cities across the nation are trying new ways to curb auto theft. For example, the Arvada Police Department gave out Apple AirTags and other trackers to residents. That way, if your vehicle is stolen, you have a chance at locating it.

Colorado’s Most Stolen Vehicles
More research found that the most stolen vehicles in Colorado are the Hyundai Sonata, Hyundai Elantra, and the Chevrolet Silverado.
